Zen Shiatsu Portland presents 


A Course of Study in Zen Shiatsu 
  • For Massage Professionals who want to learn Shiatsu 
  • This course of study will teach you Shiatsu techniques to help your clients in new ways 
  • You will develop your sensitivity as you deepen your experience and knowledge of Ki 
The Zen Shiatsu Course 


The full course will be taught over seven weekends within a nine month period. The course starts in October 2009 and concludes in June 2010.  If you are unable to finish the course in one year, you may take up to two years to complete. This helps with continuity in the class and increases your success in your Zen Shiatsu training. Each weekend focuses on one of the Five Elements and the associated meridians. The location and functions of the meridians are presented. Students will explore all aspects of the Element with hands  on work, journaling and case studies.

  • Foundation Weekend - October 3rd & 4th 
  • Metal – November 7 & 8
  • Water – January 9 & 10
  • Wood – February 6 & 7
  • Foundation Weekend – March 6 & 7 
  • Earth – March 27 & 28
  • Fire – April 30 - May 2 

The classes meet Sat. and Sun. from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. The cost for the two-day weekend is $255 for a total of 12 CE credits. The Fire weekend will be Fri., Sat. and Sun. from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.  The cost for the three-day weekend is $380 for a total of 18 CE credits. The Foundation Weekend is $205. Total cost for entire course is $1860 (includes $35 materials fee) Paid in full discount total is $1635 (includes materials fee) NCBTMB CEUs earned for each class. All classes will be held at East West College in Portland, Oregon.

The Foundation Weekend consists of: 

 

- Zen Shiatsu theory  
- Introduction to principles of Shiatsu 
- Ki, Yin & Yang, Meridians, Tsubos 
- Intro to tools and techniques 
 - Basic full body Shiatsu routine! 

 

 

In this practical workshop you will explore the theory and practice of Zen Shiatsu, meridians and related points (tsubos). Zen Shiatsu was developed by Shizuto Masunaga. This theory is rooted in Taoist philosophy and includes the concepts of Ki (Chi or Qi), Yin and Yang, Meridians and the Five Elements. You will learn to give a Shiatsu session that treats the whole body, and simple exercises that will enhance your awareness of energy (Ki). 


* Foundation Weekend is a prerequisite for the course or may be waived with instructor permission.  

* Foundation Weekend will be repeated in October 2010.

Meet the Instructors: Adrianne Cadbury LMT (OR Lic. 13462), Sande Mullany LMT (OR Lic. 3821) and Tina Rea LMT (OR Lic. 5362). They have 50 years of combined experience and training focusing on Zen Shiatsu. Over the last five years they have been involved in advanced training with The Shiatsu College of the UK. Including a two year teacher training for Shiatsu instructors. Their training and experience enables them to improve their teaching methods to better service students on the path of learning.
